Inclusion and diversity are more than just buzzwords to Westpac NZ, or something that we do on the side of our day jobs. They are core to our current and future success, because a workforce that is representative of its customer base enables a truly customer-focussed approach to business.
We believe that in order to achieve sustainable success in our diversity agenda, it requires not only strong leadership from the top but leadership at all levels of the organisation. That means diversity and inclusiveness are owned - and championed - throughout the organisation.
In fact, the best ideas for diversity come from our own people, who we empower through our range of Employee Action Groups (EAGs) to drive our Diversity and Inclusion strategy, which we launched in 2013, and foster inclusiveness at Westpac NZ.
As an organisation, we all work to ensure that what we do is relevant to our people, customers and community. Our DVFREE and Dementia Friendly Banking initiatives are good examples of initiatives from our employees to raise awareness and provide support to some of the diverse challenges facing New Zealanders.
